After 13 years of organizing a great multisport events in Mexico Beach, FL, Hurricane Michael destroyed the beach in October 2018.
As recovery continues and El Governor Motel is rebuilding, making great progress. We do not expect to be able to hold a triathlon in Mexico Beach until Fall 2021, if all goes well.
Please check back for updates.
Progress, progress, progress. We are cheering on the El Governor Motel as they work towards their reopening which is set for late 2021.
You asked how you can help
the recovery. We have found a way:
April 27, 2019
BEACH BLAST CAME
Thank you for being
BEACH BLAST TRIATHLON
& DUATHLON IN APRIL 2019 HELPED DISTRIBUTE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DIRECTLY TO MEXICO BEACH RESIDENTS AFTER THE STORM.
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!
You helped! We handed out $5,200 in Home Depot gift cards to Mexico Beach
Most cards were divided between three local churches; all volunteers who have helped Beach Blast for years! Some cards were simply placed in mail boxes along the bike and run course.
It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
A horrible thing happened to these people.
But we reached into our packets and hearts and helped!
These pictures are 100% authentic, taken driving through Mexico Beach just days after Hurricane Micheal hit Panama City,
Mexico Beach and everything between and around in October 2018.
Do a triathlon in your own pool, your neighborhood road or even on a treadmill and we will mail you a unique BEACH BLAST TRIATHLON AND DUATHLON t-shirt, bib and medal. You can even take the whole week to complete the event!
You can even participate in another race, wear your Beach Blast tee, hat or visor and use the data as participating in MEXICO BEACH STRONG 2019
BEACH BLAST TRI & DU!
We've set the date for April 27th because that is when we would hold the race if Hurricane Micheal had not paid Mexico Beach a brutal visit.
Mexico Beach cannot handle a triathlon this year but volunteers, businesses, churches,
El Governor Motel, Police Department, CDC Office - everyone in Mexico Beach had been so good to our event since 2005, we wanted to be good back!
Many virtual participants donated extra money during the registration process.
Pastor Dave and Ms. Carol
will distribute gift cards to locals who need them the most. Living Water Church was our finish line! Pastor opened his door to our athletes to cool down after the race, use the restroom and get a cold drink.
Ms Carol volunteered for many many years. She was there first for body-marking and left last as she and her husband handed out water at the Olympic run turn around.
Thank you both! We'll see you soon!
